Who We Are

Beck Architecture, Incorporated is an innovative firm specializing in custom residential, commercial, and interior design projects. Founded in 1989 by Donald Beck, AIA, the firm excels in traditional architecture, renovation, and compatible new construction.

Donald Beck, AIA: Founder and principal, Donald Beck, AIA, is a registered architect in Ohio, Kentucky, Georgia, and Florida and has national accreditation. Born in Indianapolis, Indiana in 1949, he was drawn to Cincinnati by its topography and its many wonderful old residential neighborhoods. He graduated from the University of Cincinnati in 1972 with a Bachelor of Community Planning degree and in 1985 with a Bachelor of Architecture degree. In addition to his architectural practice, Don has experience in urban design and site planning, having produced numerous facade renovation programs and streetscape designs for commercial districts, and site layouts for residential and office park projects. For fifteen years, Don headed a design-build firm specializing in urban renovation - a participant in the revitalization of the Prospect Hill district of Cincinnati. Committed to civic participation, he has served on the Boards of the Cincinnati Ballet, the Hillside Trust, Cincinnati Preservation Association, One Human Family, the Over the Rhine Chamber of Commerce, and the National Conference for Community and Justice.

Todd Lang, AIA: Todd is a registered architect in Ohio. A native Ohioan, from a rural town east of Columbus, he graduated from the University of Cincinnati in 1989 with a Bachelor of Architecture degree. He began his career with Don Beck, also in 1987. After fourteen years of practice and collaboration with Don, he was made a partner and Vice President of Beck Architecture, Inc. in 2001, and manages the drawing and production aspects of the practice. The firm has always been, and continues to be involved in renovation, restoration and infill projects in the many older and historic neighborhoods and communities throughout Cincinnati. It is this focus, on the older and historic fabric of Cincinnati that engages and motivates Todd in the practice of architecture. He has been involved with the Alumni Board of University of Cincinnati's College of Design, Architecture, Art and Planning (DAAP), and is also involved with several professional organizations - AIA Cincinnati and the Congress of Residential Architecture.
